Butterfly, Genus Ann: Vagina Necklace
One of the most beautiful periods in art history was Art Nouveau, which focused on the feminine, erotic, and flowing lines of nature. Alphonse Mucha was known for his gorgeous paintings and illustrations of goddess-like women. (If you’ve never seen his work, Google him; I promise you won’t be disappointed.) Our Butterfly, Genus Ann Vagina Pendant evokes that era, from her richly gilded labia, to her delicate detailing, and swirling antennae.
This butterfly inspired Vulva art piece is sculpted in shades of gold and is patterned in iridescent silvers, coppers, teal and pearl. She’s hung on a rose gold chain embellished with glass cathedral beads in purples and blues. The finishing touch is two curling antique brass antenna.

Her inner labia are reinforced with two hand-applied layers or resin and the entire piece is coated in a protective satin glaze.
Never made with a mold. Each Vulva pendant is the hand-sculpted clay original. We prefer clay to resin for its fleshy look and texture.

Because women don’t normally have a visual reference for what is normal ‘down there’. We can’t even see what we have! When we do have a visual reference it generally comes from porn in which women are chosen based on the shape of their Vulvas and are bleached, dyed, shaved and surgically altered. Porn Vulvas are like Chimeras, they do not exist in the natural world.
