Venus: Vulva Pendant

In Botticelli’s famous 19th century painting, TheBirth of Venus, she emerges from the sea as a nude, smooth skinned woman born of the waves in an open scallop shell. She is the Roman Goddess of love from whom some sources suggest mermaids evolved.

Venus is sculpted in divine shades of pale cream, kissed with gold iridescence . The entire piece is tinted with a reflective pearl blue to give her the appearance of being underwater. She is set into a beautiful pear oyster shell and hung from a long brass chain.

The model for this piece is Nadine.

Never made with a mold. Each Vulva pendant is the hand-sculpted clay original. We prefer clay to resin for its fleshy look and texture.

Because women don’t normally have a visual reference for what is normal ‘down there’. We can’t even see what we have! When we do have a visual reference it generally comes from porn in which women are chosen based on the shape of their Vulvas and are bleached, dyed, shaved and surgically altered. Porn Vulvas are like Ligers, they do not exist in the natural world.

We use real models to show women that no matter the shape every woman is beautiful. We use real models to show women there is no standard Vulva: they are all different and perfect as is. Bleaching is NOT required.
